Through individualised programmes, structured learning and close collaboration between teachers, families and specialist support professionals, the team helps each child develop the skills and confidence to reach their individual potential.

About the Role

As a Special Needs Preschool Teacher, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary and highly supportive team, providing individualised learning experiences tailored to the needs of each child.

The preschool operates with a 4:6 staff-to-child ratio, allowing educators to provide a high level of individual attention and support.

You will help create a structured, engaging and nurturing classroom environment where children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver individualised teaching programmes that support children's communication, social, emotional and developmental progress.
• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the wider team.
• Support children's behaviour, independence and emotional regulation through appropriate evidence-based approaches and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
• Provide a warm, safe and nurturing learning environment.
• Follow the Aistear Curriculum and Síolta Framework.
• Work closely with Behaviour Support colleagues, management and other professionals to ensure consistent and effective support.
• Meet regularly with management to review children's development and progress.
• Create engaging and enjoyable learning experiences appropriate to each child's individual needs.
• Maintain excellent communication with parents and develop positive partnerships with families.
• Contribute to a collaborative and professional team environment focused on high-quality practice and continuous improvement.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• EU nationality.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education and/or Special Needs Education.
• Eligible for registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland.
• Experience supporting children with autism and/or additional needs.
• A strong understanding of child-centred and autism-informed practice.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A calm, patient and professional approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• English language certification accepted by the Teaching Council of Ireland, where required, such as:
  • IELTS with an overall score of 7.0 or above, or
  • Cambridge C1 Advanced.
